Space Attack Flash game

In the image of throwback arcade style shooters, Space Attack pushes you back to '83 and leaves you asking "Where do I put the quarters?". With 11 fast-paced rounds of alien killing and ship upgrading, you face countless attacks in this classic space setting.

Power-ups drop from the sky, as do extra lives...but be aware...shooting a power up will reset all current power-ups you have and leave you bare bones for the battle.

Developed as a classic shooter this game was developed in Flash using AS 3.0. Though a bit removed from the initial design drafts, the idea of paying homage to the arcade games of the 80's rings true in this run-and-gun style space shooter.

Pirate Challenge Educational Activity

Pirate's Challenge Mentioned on the prototype page as the inspiration for this thesis, this is the flash interface that started it all.

Flash and ActionScript were the medium used for this question/answer game centered around Kindergarten and first grade students. A series of different questions lead users along a trail of gathering treasure hunting equipment and peices of a map.

This loot gathering is a lot of what the thesis is built around. the opportunity to find more items keeps users engaged and continuing on their path. In fact, many have commented they felt let down at the end when they couldn't use the items found; clear evidence that an emotional attachment had been made to gathering the items.

Garnet Hill Site-Design Database

This database solution arose out of necessity during my job at Garnet Hill. I focused my entire internship on this solution and I continue to refine and develop it further as expanded uses for the tool are requested.

Using PHP and a mySql back end the web-based application solved and replaced a tedious and convoluted spreadsheet problem. Prior to the database users were forced to rely on numerous spreadsheets that changed with each passing catalog season. With the database a user can refer to any of the prior seasons an update any elements within each season as needed.

Voice Integrated Console

The VIC interface is an example of human centered design to integrate voice and touch controls to a vehicle's center console. Focusing on integrating a variety of smartphone features into a single, hand-free vehicle console solves the "phone use while diving" issue.

The single-device solution is designed to provide a full integration of navigational elements, weather, radio, streaming media, messaging systems and vehicle climate control into a single interface embedded within the vehicles center console.

Extensive beta testing and user test sessions revealed a variety of interesting outcomes that were not expected. Many of the ideal components I initially envisioned adding were simply too much for for device.

Responsive Web Design Example

Utilizing the Foundation framework for a responsive web site I redesigned a client's web site as my final ITGM 720 project. In addition to the RWD layout, I used PHP to allow a blog style interface for the client to add comments an updates to the front-end through an admin page.

In addition to the blog elements, I used the admin page to allow the user to add bio information for the members of the band, as well as add shows to the shows page within the accordion interface element. The addition of shows also generates a dynamic QR code with performance details such as time, date and location, as well as a dynamic google map showing the location of the performance venue.
